Also this year, UniCredit honored Pride Month, demonstrating our continuous support to the LGBTQIA+ community and reaffirming our commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) principles within our Group and beyond.

2:00 min

From lighting the Milan’s Headquarter Spire, local parades in Germany and Italy, where we were official sponsors, to the inclusive events in Vienna and New York, hundreds of UniCredit employees, members of Unicorns – our LGBTQIA+* network, and allies came together to celebrate love, equality, and diversity.

In addition to festivities, the Pride Month is also an educational moment with dedicated local events igniting fruitful dialogue on LGBTQIA+, diversity, and inclusion topics.

»   In Germany, our Unicorns colleagues regularly organise the Pride Afterwork Events in cooperation with Kunsthalle München, one of Germany’s most prestigious exhibition houses, aimed at celebrating an inclusive culture through various cultural and entertaining events, such as guided tour of the exhibition "Viktor&Rolf. Fashion Statements", visit to the Historical Archive of the HypoVereinsbank, as well as public viewing of the European Championship match Germany vs. Hungary joined by other corporate LGBTQIA+ networks, including Allianz and FC Bayern/Queerpass.

»   In Italy, the HQ hosted a “workshow” featuring the KarmaB, a locally famous drag queen duo known for their engaging performances that blend musical entertainment with educational content on DE&I topics such as misogyny, feminism, toxic masculinity, homophobia, and ableism.

»   Our colleagues in New York commemorated Pride Month through "Colour Days", an initiative to educate about the significance of the Pride flag's colours and the "Pride Walking Tour", a gathering after work to visit historical sites significant to the LGBTQIA+ NYC Pride movement.

»   In Prague, colleagues form UCB Czech Republic and Slovakia are invited to join, on an individual basis, the Parade on 10 August.

In the past year, UniCredit has launched several new initiatives aimed at supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. These include partnerships with local advocacy groups, unconscious bias training programs, and internal campaigns to raise awareness. Our efforts have not only enriched our culture but have also set a standard for inclusivity in our financial industry, further underscored by our Global EDGE Certification for gender equity and inclusion award.

As we wrap up the 2024 Pride Month, we remain proud ally to our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and to the ongoing pursuit of equality and inclusion, not just during this month, but all year round.

*LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and the "+" sign represents all the other identities.
