The UniCredit Art Collection is a living, growing resource with treasures that reflect the European identity of the Group. One of the artists present in our collection is Francesco Jodice to whom we asked “What is art?” and insights in how he develops his impactful projects.

2:00 min

The UniCredit Art Collection is one of the largest corporate collections in Europe, comprising tens of thousands of different assets, from ancient archaeological finds to classical and contemporary works of art. Our Collection is the result of the artistic choices and passion for art that has always characterised UniCredit.

We have paid special attention to promoting young and emerging artists from the countries where our Group is present, increasing the presence of contemporary works of art in the Collection.

We want to make art part of the lives of an ever wider public, so we asked some artists to tell us and explain what art is? What does it represent?

Art is a box of toys, from which everyone takes what they like.

Francesco Jodice

Born in Naples in 1967, Francesco  lives and works in Milan.

After graduating from architecture in 1995, he decided to dedicate himself to artistic research, focusing above all on changes in the contemporary social landscape, paying particular attention to the new phenomena of urban anthropology.

The attention of Jodice then turned to different anthropological cultures in relation to the new phenomena of mega-politics. One of his works is Hikikomori, Class Portraits and Citytellers, a trilogy film on new forms of urbanisation.

Since 2008, geopolitics have been at the centre of the artist's research. His analysis of the crisis of the Western system has led to the films, installations and photographic projects promoting forms and models of public participation.
